San Marcello was first settled in 1243 by some farmers from Jesi. In the medieval period the walls were built and they can be still seen. Interesting are the Marcelli palace, today seat of the Town Council, of the Renaissance period and the municipal theatre, a real gem recently inserted in the list of the most important theatres of Marche region.
