Osimo, whose origins can be traced between the VII and the VI centuries b.C., is on a top of a hill at 265 meters of height dominating Musone valley. It is the ancient Roman Auximum, contended between Pompeo and Cesare in the Civil War. Osimo is famous for the church of San Giuseppe da Copertino, one of the most beautiful of the town; the body of the saint, protector of students and aviators, is in the crypt. Next to the church there is also the museum. It is also possible to visit the baptistry, also called church of San Giovanni, that has a very important christening font of the '600. Remarkably interesting are also the beautiful gardens, to be reached after the deconsecrated church of San Francesco, from where to look at the panorama.
